East Lake in Wuhan,Hubei
East Lake is the largest lake within a Chinese city and is located in the eastern part of Wuhan(武汉) City. The lake covers an area of 330,000 sq meters (about 81.6 acres), which is five times the size of the West Lake in Hangzhou(杭州).

East Lake Scenic Spot consists of six scenic areas: Tingtao (Listening to Surging Waves), Moshan (Millstone Hill), Luoyan (Diving Goose), Baima (White Horse), Chuidi (Playing the Flute) and Luohong Hills. Tingtao, which is famous for the memorial for Chu Yuan, is located at the northwest of East Lake. Chu Yuan was a patriotic poet in the Warring States Period (475-221 B.C.). Moshan hill lies to the southeast of East Lake with an altitude of 118 meters (387 ft) above sea level. 78 cherry blossoms donated by the former Japan Premier Minister Tanaka Kakueiare can be seen growing prosperously in this area.

Thanks to the clean and clear water in East Lake, many fish, water birds and plants make their home here. The famous Wuchang Fish is a unique product of East Lake. Orchids, lotus, cherry bay and plum blossoms also highlight the marvelous lake.

Admission Fee: RMB 30 (Tingtao); RMB 40 (Moshan)
