Fu Xi & Nv Wa-Chinese Mythology
According to one Chinese mythology, Fu Xi, the Descendant of the Dragon, and Nv Wa (or Nugua), the Descendant of the Snake, were the original father and mother of the Chinese people.

Legend holds that the Xia was preceded by a succession of three sovereigns and five emperors. Fu Xi, the first of the three sovereigns, usually is depicted alongside his wife and sister, the goddess Nv Wa.

In charge of Cosmic Harmony and Contemplation, Fu Xi is very popular in Taoist temples. He also devised the original hundred Chinese surnames. These are always written before given names, as family is so important in China.

Fu Xi's wife is Nv Wa, who invented humans to give him something to do. During the beginning of the world, it was believed that there were no human beings. It was Nv Wa who made men with yellow clay. She couldn’t mould every one. So she dipped a rope into the mud and then lifted it. The mud that dripped from the rope also became men.
