China Railway Construction Corporation

China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), a gigantic state-owned enterprise group, has the national Grade-1 qualification for project contracting and overseas business conducting licence ratified by the Chinese Government and now is ranking 2nd among the biggest 500 construction enterprises in China.

CRCC consists of over 30 subsidiaries, including Construction Bureaus from the 11th to 25th, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, Zhong-Tie Construction Group Corporation Ltd., China Railway Kunming Large Maintenance Machinery Co., China Railway Materials Corporation, Beijing Railway Construction Industrial and Trade Corporation, Beijing Tiecheng Construction Supervision Company Ltd., the First Railway Survey & Design Institute, the Fourth Railway Survey & Design Institute, Railway Construction Research & Design Institute, Shanghai Railway & Urban Rail Traffic Design Institute, etc. It has over 220,000 employees, of which 63,280 are professionals of various disciplines and 6,300 senior engineers. The comprehensive construction mechanization rate exceeds 80%. Annual construction capacity is about 100 billion Yuan RMB.

CRCC mainly undertakes the design, construction, equipment installation, construction supervision, technical consultation and project management of railways, highways, municipal works, airports, harbors, mines, industrial & civil buildings at home and abroad, environmental protection, water conservancy, and electric power projects, and underground engineering. Since 1949, CRCC has constructed over 27,000 km railways, 11,000 km highways and top-class expressways, 60 water conservation & electric power stations, 30 large-scale airports, 50 urban underground projects, and over 35 million square meters industrial and civil buildings. Additionally CRCC also covers industrial production, machinery and equipment leasing, materials and goods trade, financial investment and real estate.

As of 2003, CRCC has been awarded 37 China Construction Luban Prizes - the highest honor for construction enterprises in China. It has also won 30 national prizes and 387 provincial or ministerial prizes for its top quality construction. CRCC has also been recognized for its key scientific and technical achievements including 21 National Scientific & Technical Achievement Prizes, 139 Provincial or Ministerial Scientific & Technical Achievement Prizes and 4 Zhan Tianyou Scientific & Technical Prizes for Civil Works. CRCC has also met the requirements for an ISO9001 Quality Certification System, ISO14001 Environmental Management Certification System and OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety Management Certification System.
