Department of Mathematics
For providing essential mathematical knowledge to medical students, a teaching group was set up under the Department of Mathematics and Physics in 1954. In 1986, the Mathematics Department was officially established as an authorized department of the School of Biomedical Engineering.
Curricula Provided:
(1)Core Courses:
Advanced Mathematics for undergraduate students major in Medicine
Advanced Mathematics, Linear Algebra, Theory of Probability, Mathematical Statistics, Complex Variable Functions, and Integral Transformation for undergraduate students major in biomedical engineering
(2)Elective Courses:
Graduate courses: Fuzzy Mathematics, Numerical Analysis and Biomedical Statistics
Undergraduate courses: Theory of Probability, and Numerical Analysis
Research Areas:
(1) Mathematical modeling and simulation: the emphasis is on the study of mathematical models used in epidemiology. The department has won 2 ministerial third-prize awards for Progress in Science and Technology for achievements in this field.
(2) Medical Statistics and management: A ministerial third prize was awarded to the research group for Progress in Science and Technology.
