Department of Physics
Established in 1954, the Department of Physics in the School of Biomedical Engineering provides graduate programs for master's and doctoral degrees in biophysics. It offers a wide range of curricula including Medical Physics, General Physics for medical students, Medical Electronics, Laser in Medicine, Hemorheology, Cardiovascular Hemodynamics, and Biological Nonlinear Dynamics for graduate students and students majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Its research work is comprised of three labs: Lab of Biomechanics, Lab of Biological Complexity Research and Medical Optics Lab.

Research areas:
1. Mechanism study on biological effects of laser: The aim of study is to investigate the mechanism causing biological effects of laser and the patterns tissue used to absorb and translate laser. The research is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the key research foundation of Shannxi Province.
2. Nonlinear dynamic mechanism of bio-signal: The research is focus on revealing the evolution principles of nonlinear complex system in medicine and biology.
3. Cardiovascular hemodynamics: The study on mechanism of neural, endocrine and mechanical regulation and adaptation in cardiovascular system has been supported by several fundings from National Natural Science Foundation of China.
4. Biological effects of electromagnetic field: To study effects of electromagnetic environments on human living and health. Supported by ministerial key foundation.

With the dedication from the highly qualified, productive faculty in the department, over 30 papers are published every year. The achievements made in research and teaching has promoted the department as a standing committee member of Chinese Medical Physics Society, vice chairman of Military Laser Medicine Society, and vice chairman of Shaanxi Laser Medicine Society. It's expected 8 graduate students recruited every year.
