Study: Beijing Most Beautiful, Hong Kong Safest
A new study shows Beijing as the most beautiful city in China and Hong Kong the safest.
The China Institute of City Competitiveness reveals that the capital came in ahead of 558 other mainland cities and the two special administrative regions, for its impressive historical monuments and tourist attractions.
The assessment took into consideration the cities' urban design, infrastructure, architecture, culture and natural beauty.
Factors including preservation of historical monuments, forest coverage, air quality, transportation network, city life, public facility and GDP were also considered.
In the voting for the safest city, based on the social, economic and ecological development, Hong Kong came in first, followed by Shanghai and Nanjing.
