China to Learn from Other Countries' Legal System

China would, in line with its own conditions, learn from the achievements of the building of legal systems of other countries including Switzerland, said a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Thursday.

Zhou Yongkang, member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting with Christoph Blocher, federal councilor and head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police of Switzerland.

Zhou, also a state councilor, said China and Switzerland enjoyed sound bilateral relations and close and fruitful cooperation.

He said bilateral cooperation in law enforcement constituted an important component of bilateral relationship and China hoped to continuously expand pragmatic cooperation between the law enforcement bodies of the two countries.

Blocher said Switzerland attached great importance to the development of bilateral relations and would further strengthen its substantial cooperation with China's Public Security Ministry in anti-terrorism, combating cross-border crime, and security work for the Olympic Games.

Blocher was here as a guest of China's Public Security Ministry.
