1st round of Olympic ticket payment extended
PEOPLE who won a draw for the first chance to buy tickets to the Beijing Olympics but failed to pay during the first round of sales can pay the overdue bills from today to November 23, the Xinmin Evening News reported today.

Applicants can use credit or bank cards or cash to pay at one of the 1,000 outlets of the Bank of China permitted by the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee. They can also call the ticket center (010-952-008) to pay with their Visa cards, the report said.

The final deadline for the payment will expire at 5pm on November 17, according to the ticket center.

The first phase of ticket applications, which began on April 15 and ended on June 30, attracted 551,017 applications for the opening ceremony, of which only 26,000 tickets were offered for the first round.

A random computer draw on August 24 picked the first 300,000 Chinese residents to win the right to buy tickets to the Beijing Olympics.

The lucky winners are allowed to buy tickets for various Olympic events, including the opening and closing ceremonies at the Bird's Nest, but many failed to pay in the scheduled time and have been blocked from applying for tickets in the second round of the sale.
