Ministry of Health
The Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China was established on November 21, 1949. It is a member of the State Council with a mandate in health.
There are 16 components within the Ministry of Health: the Department of General Administration, the Department of Human Resources, the Department of Planning and Finance, the Department of Health Policy and Regulation, the Office of Health Emergency, the Department of Rural Health Management, the Department of Health Law Enforcement and Supervision, the Department of Maternal and Child Health Care and Community Health, the Department of Medical Administration, the Department of Disease Control, the Department of Medical Science, Technology and Education, the Department of International Cooperation, the Bureau of Health Care for Senior Officials, the Committee of the Communist Party of China at Ministry of Health, the Bureau of the Retired Personnel and the Bureau of Supervision.
In addition, institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health are: the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (Peking Union Medical College), the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Center of Health Inspection and Supervision, Beijing Hospital, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, the China Medical Association, Health Daily, the People's Medical Publishing House, China Prevention Medicine Association, the Training Center for Health Officials, the Development Center for Medical and Health Technology, the Health Economics Center, Hospital Management Center, Personnel Exchange Center, and the Logistics Center for the Ministry of Health.
