The Fifth City Games was held in Changsha(长沙), capital of southern Hunan(湖南) Province from October 15 to 27, 2003. During the ten-day competition, four athletes broke five world records eight times and six new Asian records were created by eight athletes. At the same time, many promising young athletes emerged. The Fifth City Games added ten more Olympic sports to its traditional 16 sports. It attracted more than 7,000 athletes to participate.
